We left Gran Francia by 7 AM for fear of delays in crossing the Nicaragua/Costa Rica border and possibly seas of potholes over the ensuing 200 miles. First, the primarily roads were fi

ne., therefore, no time-waster here. The drive by huge Lake Nicaragua surrounded by volcanoes was lovely. At the border, I focused on staying calm, retaining competent helpers and paying the freight. With excellent navigation by the helpers, instead of the 3 hours we allowed, we were compliant and through in an hour, and my wallet was thinner.

Even with a leisurely lunch at the German Bakery, we arrived at Tabacon Resort at Lake Arenal in the early afternoon. The resort is delightful -- volcano/lake/hot spring in a “cloud forest”. We

realized that were back in Gringolandia.
