Day 41: Golf near Panama City - Saturday December 18, 2010

Carol & I saw Julia off at 5:30 AM and started missing her right away. We later played Summit Golf Club just past the Miraflores Locks. It is a pleasant, hilly course. After all the rain, there was no roll and unplug & clean rules applied. We had fun! We were treated very well and everyone was very friendly.

We walked to dinner at Casablanca. The food was terrific and we sat at an outside table right on Bolivar Plaza. The Presidential Palace and Legislature, etc. are at Casco Viejo and all around us. Casco is undergoing big time urban renewal.

Note: The White House is close to urban slums. I took pictures of the Panama Bay from the rooftop. We are looking forward to another round of golf tomorrow at another local course.

It looks like we will part with the car in Colon on Monday or Tuesday so that it can ship on Thursday. Further, we will be lucky to be able to pick it up in Cartagena on the Monday following. We are attempting to charter a boat to take us to San Blas Islands and then to Cartagena, a total of less than 100 nautical miles, over the 6 car-less days. Failing that, we will try to charter a small plane for the task, but then we will have to find hotels.
