The trip to the public market brought back childhood memories of going to Grand Central Market in LA in the 1950s. The market had so much action, shopping and crowds, yet everyone was courteous and smiling. The butcher stalls were impressive, the cornucopia of produce and fruit including several items I had not seen before. I am going to be more active with a blender when I come home.
3 of us had a seven course daily special meal with different entrees plus 2 beers for a little more than $4 each. Most of the other diners loaded up since they are likely to stay up and dine very late. We drove to the Botanical Gardens, but it seems that everyone closes up at 1 on 12/31. We are spending New Years Eve and New Years Day with our hosts’ families. So we get family time after all.
